"The villa was great and had everything we needed. The site was great and we used the kids club a few days and the children enjoyed themselves." Ffyona D 4/8/18

Chateau de Salles is a holiday park with a difference. Situated within the verdant grounds of a chateau, there is a real feeling of spaciousness about the place. The 100 or so properties are spread out with large open expanses of parkland sweeping right up to the open gardens of the quality holiday homes.
The atmosphere is distinctly low-key, yet there is an abundance of facilities on site to keep both young and old happy and entertained. These include a large heated pool, kids' pool, play area, bike hire, tennis, squash, gym as well as a bar/restaurant.
Children can enjoy the freedom to roam the park, make new friends and enjoy the facilities on site in relative safety.
Outside the main summer season, Chateau de Salles provides a great base for exploring the region. After a day out sightseeing you can enjoy the peaceful surroundings, unwind and maybe even take a dip in the heated pool.
This low density parkland development has been designed in sympathy with the local traditional style. The interiors are particularly spacious – much more so than similar capacity holiday homes. The villas with pools were all built within the last ten years and are furnished in a modern and tasteful style with high-quality fittings. The non-pool properties were mostly built within the last 20 years and the quality standards are rigorously maintained by the park management.
This lovely, peaceful park is surrounded by mature pine trees, sheltering it from the world outside, with a smattering of trees throughout the park offering some shade.
The park is situated at the heart of Aquitaine, surrounded by massive pine forests, close to vast freshwater lakes and within easy reach of the wide sandy beaches along the coast. The attractive seaside resort of Arcachon with its grand, ‘Belle Epoque’ villas and safe, sandy beaches is within 40 minutes’ drive. The nearby village of Salles is a short walk away down the main chateau driveway.
The attraction of Chateau de Salles is that suits both those who want to just relax and unwind and also families who want to be active on, or around, the site.

Other facilities & attractions Traffic-free cycle network

The Landes forest on your doorstep
Salles is surrounded by the largest forested area in Europe. This huge, wooded area of mainly pine trees is home to some fascinating flora and fauna. Squirrels, numerous types of birds and even deer can be seen regularly in the parkland. To prevent wild boar from entering, the park has been surrounded by a perimeter fence. A gate through the fence leads down to the river l’Eyre which runs just next to the park and can be explored on foot, or by canoe.
Dune du Pilat
The immense Dune du Pilat is the largest sand dune in Europe, nearly 3km long and over 100m high. Situated on the southern shores of Arcachon Bay, a climb to the top of the dune offers panoramic views over the lagoon and along the coastline.
Sanguinet Lake
The freshwater Sanguinet Lake offers a wide range of watersports activities as well a sandy beach supervised by lifeguards (high season only).
The Aquitaine coast comprises a long, straight stretch of wide, sandy beaches backed by pine forests, with one major exception – Arcachon Bay. The lagoon creates a large indentation in the coastline and is an important wildlife haven, home to famous oyster beds as well as some sheltered beaches. The stylish resort of Arcachon has a distinct ‘fin de siecle’ atmosphere with many large, fine villas overlooking the lagoon.
Built on a bend in the wide Garonne river, Bordeaux has been a major port since Roman times and is synonymous with fine wines. The city is graced by many elegant buildings including a long sweep of attractive facades along the waterfront, the huge Place de Quinconces and the imposing Place de la Bourse. The city is best explored on foot – window-shopping along the many pedestrianised streets or strolling along the waterfront taking in the impressive vista.
A former playground for the European rich in the 19th century, Biarritz remains a chic holiday resort today. A wide sweep of sandy bay is situated between a headland dominated by a lighthouse and a natural harbour amidst a rocky promontory.
Paulliac lies at the heart of the Medoc wine region and is surrounded by some of the most renowned wine-producing chateaux in the world including Mouton-Rothschild, Lafite-Rothschild and Latour. The small town enjoys a lovely setting on the banks of the wide Gironde estuary, north-west of Bordeaux.
