About the Property:

South-facing villa with large heated indoor pool, distant sea views, just 2km from the beach and charming port of Doelan.

This modern, south-facing property, with distant sea views and a large, indoor swimming pool, is located just 2km from the beach on a lovely stretch of Brittany’s south coast between Concarneau and Lorient.

Situated in a small hamlet, down quiet country lanes, the villa is built in traditional Breton style and enjoys distant sea views across open countryside.

The large indoor pool benefits from a spacious poolside area, the ideal spot to relax whatever the weather. Sliding doors can be opened in warmer weather giving access onto the sizeable outdoor terrace.

Ty Cedrik has been furnished in contemporary style which, along with its south-facing aspect and open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, gives it a light and airy feel.

There are distant sea views from many rooms including the dining area, kitchen, the double bedrooms upstairs as well as from the terrace.

The surrounding landscape is criss-crossed with quiet country lanes ideal for cycling. Under 2km away is the small and charming fishing port of Doelan at the mouth of a wooded creek (setting for the French version of Doc Martin) with a few quayside restaurants, bars and cafes. Close to Doelan is the nearest beach, a small sandy cove, with a choice of larger sandy beaches in the quiet resort of Le Pouldu (8km).

Just a short stroll away is a convenience store with a difference – an épicerie (small grocer’s shop) that has a delightful mix of the modern as well as a throwback to an earlier time in rural France.

The village of Clohars Carnoet (4km) has a supermarket, bakery, other shops, bars and banks.

We recommend no more than eight adults in the party as the fifth and sixth bedrooms are more suited to children.

Places to visit nearby

BEACHES

Doelan (2km) The nearby unspoilt fishing port of Doelan is now famous across France. This quiet haven at the mouth of a wooded creek with just a few quayside restaurants, bars and cafes was the location for the hit French TV version of Doc Martin (with the same title as the original UK series).

Le Pouldu (5.5km) This quiet seaside resort has a choice of sandy beaches.

Kerfany (7.5km) A sheltered beach at the mouth of the Belon river supervised by lifeguards (high season only) with a choice of water sports available.

Guidel (10km) Guidel beaches are famous for their beautiful fine sand.

COASTAL WALKS

With over 700 miles of coastline Brittany offers a great variety of walking for all levels from dramatic cliffs to marshland teeming with wildlife and wooded tidal creeks to long sandy beaches backed by sand dunes. Including a stretch of the coast in a circular walk is often very straightforward. This is especially easy where peninsulas jut out into the sea and following the coast path brings you almost back to your starting point.

DAY TRIP IDEAS

Pont-Aven (12km)
Pont-Aven is a small village famous for its buttery biscuits and numerous art galleries. Many painters, including Gauguin, were attracted by the beauty of Pont-Aven and all the surrounding area. Pont-Aven has many old mills, traditional stone-built houses and many seafood restaurants. The town also hosts a flower festival on the first Sunday in August.

Lorient (20km)
Lorient has a rich naval history and the many yachts and buildings surrounding the harbour reflect this as well as the German submarine base which has been turned into a tourist attraction. Why not spend the day in Lorient and hop on a ferry to the Ile de Groix which is located opposite the property. The crossing takes 45 minutes and the island which is the second biggest in Brittany after Belle-Ile has much to offer including lovely beaches, pretty colourful houses in the village, market twice a week and you can even hire bikes to cycle around the island on cycle paths over moorland, hidden coves and many beautiful beaches.

Ile de Groix (20km)
The island is accessible by boat from Lorient. The crossing lasts about 50 minutes and the landmarks worth seeing are Port-Louis 16th century fortification, the Grands Sables beach and the Pen Men lighthouse. The island has a wonderful landscape with high and jagged cliffs, seashell beaches as well as coves with red sand or wide stretches of thin and white sand. It is also home of bird reserve which protects a wide range of seabirds.

Concarneau (24km)
The main attraction of this important fishing port on the south Brittany coast is Ville Clos, a small walled town built on an island in the natural harbour. Accessed by a bridge from the quayside, the narrow streets within the granite ramparts are lined with shops and restaurants.

Carnac (45km)
Carnac has the rather unusual juxtaposition of being a very popular seaside resort with lovely sandy beaches and home to one of the world’s most important prehistoric sites. Over 3000 stones of varying, yet unusually modest, proportions lie in densely packed parallel alignments, stretching for over one kilometre.

Golfe du Morbihan (60km)
The Morbihan Gulf is a massive inland sea dotted with numerous islands; only a narrow channel connects it to the open sea. Some of the islands can be explored on foot or by bike, while a great way to discover the enormity of the Golfe is aboard one of the many pleasure boats that ply the creeks and open waters between the small harbours. The area is littered with prehistoric monuments – not to be missed are the stone avenues of Carnac (under an hour’s drive) as well as the delights of old Vannes and Auray.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES
The region offers many sporting and leisure activities.
Surfing school 4.5km away (Plage de Kerou) or in Guidel Plage (7.5km) offering surfing, sailing, jet skiing and canoeing.
Horse riding 3km in Moëlan sur Mer.
Tennis 4.3km in Moëlan sur Mer.
Centre Aquatique du Moustoir in Lorient (19.5km) or Oceanis aquatic complex in Ploemeur (15.5km) both with pool, slide, water game areas, spa, sauna, aquagym.
Tree top adventure park Le Poisson Volant (13km) just outside Ploemeur.
Parc du Quinquis (8km) in Clohars Carnoët: Family run park including a variety of animals (kangaroos, goats, donkeys, deer, peacocks and more) roaming freely whilst visitors can mingle within this preserved botanical park.
Golf: Golf de Ploemeur Ocean (12km).
