Places to visit nearby

Biot (1.5km)
When visiting the village of Biot, one should visit the Verrerie, a fantastic glassblowing Eco museum, a world first of its kind in the art of producing bubbles glass. This Verrerie was the first to open their doors to the public so that everybody can see and enjoy the art of bubble glass making. It was also the first to produce frosted bubble glass and brand new: a luminescent glass with fluorescent colours that shines in the darkness. Treat yourself to one or more unique pieces on sale as a souvenir or gift. After this visit why not go to the old town and discover the Fernand Léger National Museum that houses the largest collection of works by the Cubist Master. You can also enjoy a stroll through the historic centre of Biot with its cobbled streets, many artists’ studios and art galleries and French bistros and restaurants. Also, you will find all sorts of exhibitions, concerts, and festivities. Don’t forget to explore the Parc de la Brague, a huge green space with walking trails. Handy information, there is a charming market taking place every Tuesday and Saturday morning.

DAY TRIP IDEAS

Antibes (7km)
Antibes is a lovely old town with narrow winding streets, a great selection of restaurants, cafes, piano bars, private clubs, theatres and for art lovers the Picasso museum.

Juan les Pins (9km)
Sitting next to Antibes is a very attractive coastal resort with gorgeous beaches, exciting nightlife with trendy night clubs, casino and also night shopping!

Cannes (19km)
One of the unmissable jewels of the Cote d’Azur with sandy beaches and large promenade La Croisette, chic boutiques, classy restaurants, bars, shops and numerous festivals throughout the year, including of course the Cannes Film Festival in May each year.

Nice (20km)
Glamourous and lively seaside city with a wide range of activities on offer from shopping in Nice’s chic pedestrian precinct, to wandering around the old town with its small shops, busy pubs, restaurants and its famous market. For those interested in history there is also plenty to do such as visiting Roman remains of Cimiez where a superb jazz festival takes place in July. There are also several museums to discover (Matisse, Chagall, Palais Lascaris, Art Museum MAMAC and many others). Why not go to the Parc Phoenix, a huge botanical greenhouse garden and zoo? In fact, it is one of the largest in Europe with six different tropical climates and thousands of plants to discover. Nice’s latest addition is the brand-new Promenade du Paillon a huge green zone covering twelve hectares and 1.2 kilometres long (and growing!) located in the heart of Nice with plants, trees, fountains and play areas. Nice has so much to offer so it is tricky narrowing it down but if you fancy an overview of Nice and see it as shown so often on photos then make your way to Mont Boron mountain which offers spectacular view points to the west over Nice harbour and the whole bay of Nice which is magnificent by day or by night when it is all lit up. To the east you will also have great views of St Jean Cap Ferrat peninsula and Monaco. There are lots of water sports along the coast and nearby coastal towns such as diving, parasailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, water skiing, inflatable riding, wake boarding and the latest craze – flyboarding. Why not hire bikes to ride along the Promenade des Anglais, or try rollerblading instead whilst enjoying the views of the bay and discover Nice in a brand-new way?

Vence (20km)
One of the most famous and beautiful, perched villages on the Cote d’Azur and has a wonderful artistic heritage with numerous galleries and shops, restaurants and street cafés. The village comes alive in the summer with its famous festival and live concerts held in the open-air town square. Within the village walls there are cafés on the Place Clémenceau, a great spot to sit and watch activities of this busy square. A visit to the Matisse chapel, designed and decorated by the artist himself in the late 1940s, is recommended.

Grasse (23km)
Grasse is famous worldwide for its perfumeries and is often hailed as the perfume capital of the world! It even has a museum of perfume. Grasse is a fascinating old town with pretty streets, squares full of life, numerous shops, restaurants, a daily market and a magnificent Cathedral. Grasse gets quite busy especially in August during the Fete du Jasmin where you can see floats driving through town throwing flowers into the crowd. Known as the Bataille de Fleurs (flower battle), onlookers get soaked by their natural perfume. During the event there are fireworks and dancing. If you are looking for something a little different why not visit the limestone caves and grottos leading up to the Plateau de Caussols, 4km north of Grasse.

Frejus, Saint-Raphael (50km)
Frejus is an ancient military port and Roman city with a rich historical and architectural heritage. You will find some superb Roman remains including a Roman theatre still used for various summer events and one of the largest amphitheatres from Gallic times.

NEARBY ACTIVITIES

Canyon Forest, Villeneuve Loubet (10km): An Acrobatic adventure park with 160 tree top challenges of monkey bridges, rope swings, giant zip lines and rock climbing. For the bravest, the longest zip line in France (330m) where you can expect to reach a maximum speed of 70 km per hour. If that’s not enough, there is a 4km maze.
Pitchoun Forest, Villeneuve Loubet (12km): A few minutes further along from Canyon forest is another Park which is a more accessible course for younger children (from 3 or 1m height to 10). Great Park with 4 courses and lots to do including climbing, balancing. Altogether there are 60 different games and a quiz on animal life.
